In January of 2000 Shawn Monahan started a new business called Critical Signs and Graphics. Mainly lettering Race Cars for his first year of business and doing occasionally work on commercial vehicles. Shawn's first year of business thrived off word of mouth only! The following year brought on an amazing amount of business due to quickly spreading news of excellent quality and service.

  In the summer of 2003, Shawn's brother, James, better known as Diego, joined forces with Shawn and Critical Signs.

  For the first three years, Critical Signs was operated from home. Soon business grew too fast to be accommodated in a home garage, so in September of 2003 Critical Signs moved to 106 Boston Post Road.

  The stay on boston Post Road was extremely successfull and short lived. The plaza called "Waterford Center" was sold to a large corporation who chose to demolish the whole plaza and force Critical Signs and 14 other retail shops to relocate their business. Shawn & Diego, who were born and raised in Waterford, tried their best to keep the business in their hometown, however, the opportunity to expand the business just didn't seem available in Waterford due to lack of real-estate for local business.

  Shawn & Diego chose to relocate and expand to a 1000 square foot showroom and 2000 square foot work shop. Critical Signs is currently located in the Groton Shoppers Plaza at 772 Long Hill Road, Groton, CT. They are looking forward to serving you soon.

Shawn and Diego Monahan thrive off of Quality and Service, hence their slogan "Your Image is our business." In the summer of 2003 they decided to add screen printing and Embroidery, thus, changing there name to Critical Signs, Graphics, Screen Printing and Embroidery.

Together, Diego and Shawn have successfully been operating Critical Signs, Graphics, Screen Printing and Embroidery.

Although Race Cars only make up about 10% of the total business, they still enjoy helping racers.

Shawn Monahan has also been racing for many years, most recently being a Modified driver at Waterford Speedbowl. He is also a past champion of the Sportsman division at the Waterford Speedbowl. Diego also has shown great success in auto racing. Together they have won over 25 main event and have received awards for Pit Crew of the year, most popular driver, most improved driver, and rookie of the year. Diego also races a Modified at the Waterford Speedbowl.
